ABOUT BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio is a non-profit prevention-based agency that serves the community by providing quality mentoring relationships to children and youth in need of a friend. Big Brothers Big Sisters has a rich history of nurturing friendships between caring adult volunteers and promising children and youth. For more than 75 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has served many thousands of children and youth in Franklin, Delaware, and Union counties through its mentoring and camping programs.

Big Brothers Big Sisters impacts the lives of approximately 6,000 children and youth in the central Ohio area each year through its mentoring programs, including Community-Based and School-Based Mentoring programs such as Project Mentor, and Group Mentoring at Camp Oty'Okwa. Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring programs provide an individual Big Brother/Big Sister or a Couple/Family match to children in need of a friend, producing mutually rewarding experiences for both the Big and the Little. Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring programs are available to children and youth who live in Franklin, Delaware, and Union counties.

Through Big Brothers Big Sisters Amachi Ohio, we collaborate with Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies throughout the state to serve Ohio children of incarcerated parents. For more information about this program, or to volunteer or refer a child, please visit www.amachiohio.org.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio also owns and operates a residential camp, Camp Oty'Okwa, which is located on several hundred acres in the Hocking Hills of southern Ohio. Camp Oty'Okwa offers several summer camping sessions to our Little Brothers and Little Sisters as well as children from all over Ohio. In addition, Camp Oty'Okwa is available for rental by school, community, and business groups throughout the year.
