Welcome to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio!

Camp Oty'Okwa in Ohio's beautiful Hocking Hills is one of two residential camps in the country owned and operated by a Big Brothers Big Sisters agency. As a resdiential camp, Camp Oty'Okwa has provided a positive, safe and nurturing environment for thousands of children to learn and grow since it was established in 1942. Camp Oty'Okwa provides new and unique opportunities to children that help develop their self-esteem, sense of independence, leadership abilities and social skills.

The 2012 residential summer camp program at Camp Oty'Okwa included:

EXPLORER AND ADVENTURE CAMP (ages 6-14)

Campers will live in a cabin or platform tent, with other children their own age and their counselors. They will spend at least one night camping in the woods. Campers will be learning how to work together and be comfortable in a new envrionment while having fun with activities such as swimming, hiking, stories, fishing and team-building activities with certified staff.

SCIENCE CAMP (ages 10-13)

Resident summer science camp includes traditional camp experiences and expert presenters on topics in geology, forest ecosystems, watershed/creeking, animals in nature, flight/rocketry, astronomy/telescopes and initiatives/team-building.

SPECIAL CARE CAMP (ages 6-14)

Special Care Camp is designed for children who need closer supervision, and basically, just a little more attention. They are actively involved with their counselor and other children with similiar needs in a variety of camp activities. Candidates for Speical Care Camp may have learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD, behavior or mood disorders or a combination of needs.
